Save 10 metres of highland forest
This gift buys 10 metres squared of mountain forest in the Lebialem Highlands in Cameroon, to save this forest vital to the region's endangered wildlife. These lush highlands rank among the five most biologically diverse conservation regions in Central Africa, in terms of globally threatened species and endemic species.
These forests are a conservation priority due to their endangered primate population, particularly the Critically Endangered Cross River Gorilla. There are less than 300 of these individuals left in the wild. The main challenges faced by this region centre around poaching and habitat fragmentation caused by farming. This land must urgently be secured to protect a much-needed habitat for the wealth of primates and other African species that call this area home.
