Save 10 metres of riverine forest
This gift buys 10 metres squared of unprotected riverine forest connected to Nantu Wildlife Sanctuary in Indonesia, to safeguard this threatened sanctuary and elusive pigs, tarsiers and water buffalos. The proposed new area contains a critical habitat for key populations of Indonesia's endemic and unique rainforest biodiversity. 62 percent of it's mammal species and 30 percent of its birds species are found nowhere else in the world.
This includes the solitary Mountain Anoa (water buffalo) which feeds on grasses and other vegetation. The main challenges presented to this area are slash and burn clearance, wildlife poaching, illegal mining and oil palm plantations, which are a cause of great concern to the habitat and endemic wildlife. Purchasing this land will safeguard the gateway to this sanctuary.
